THAT FABULOUS YEAR FOR THE BIG BORE!

THAT FABULOUS YEAR FOR THE BIG BORE! - FREDDIEFIX19
In years in the mid-80's, houses pushed very evolution of its own means, every year we witnessed the arrival of juicy news: from the most alternative progressive systems, the adoption of a cooling liquid for carry-on Nikasil barrels cylinder until the front brake and sopsensioni etc.
It is true that the others vintages were still of great turmoil technical and underwent further modification, a clear sign of the evolutionary thrust of the period that led to the very top of the market cross, it was one of the most flourishing periods at both bikes deployed in an official from the houses in the various national and world championships, both of practitioners.
In the world, many houses pledged to the official level, deploying more than two bikes to race.
The specifics of this particular vintage, there was an epoch-making change, especially in engine technology of codeste bike that went almost all the cooling liquid and the first reports appeared in Nikasil in place of cast iron pipes universally used.
Lower classes had already witnessed the metamorphosis few year earlier, after 1980 or so, with the Italian houses in the first row.
The Cagiva factory made right at the end of 1979 one of the first 125 cc bike water cooled.Another major change was the mass adoption of the brake front disc, a real treat for the time.
Moving on to a fast synthesis technique, remained loyal to the "air cooled" Yamaha and Suzuki.
In the case of the RM, the bike was essentially the same as in 1983, the swing arm, was the last year when they did, it was built exclusively for the European market, was the only 500 cc Hamamatsu's house with the parking brake front disc, in the United States was never imported.
The YZ 490 '84 changed, version 85 was the only difference front disc brake. The Honda put his hand heavily on the 500 project, producing a cutting-edge motion, liquid-cooled bike almost new compared to 84 . The KX, he turned to liquid cooling, cylinder liner with Nikasil and in the rebuilding of the bike including the progressive rear systems. The germany Maico made 'a good liquid cooling for its 500 cc,front disc brake front, but the motion was substantially the same as the previous vintage.
The Swedish Husky, was one of those that changed more radically, by the double rear shock absorbers replaced by a new rear progressive system to a single shock absorber, liquid cooled, front disc brakes and very particulary frame with a big pipe. The same KTM totally remade their 500 cc : Liquid cooled barrel Nikasil, new chassis and front disc brake. should be noted that the version for the American market came out that the WP UPD and bigger fuel tank, the European version mounted instead of the traditional Marzocchi fork 41 mm and little tank and a more tapered, as an option you were inverted forks and a choice between Dell'Orto and Bing. The Cagiva made in 1983 its 500 cc, the engine acquired projects Villa, but only in 1984, the model series saw the sun.It was the first 500 cc water cooled and the front
disc brake , in fact paved the way for the other sisters ...
Just the Cagiva was the last of eight sisters recovered from me.
Although it was built just a few miles from my home, I struggled just to retrieve it, it was over in the U.S., only to find themselves near London as well as in the den!

CAGIVA WMX 500 1985

CAGIVA WMX 500 1985 - FREDDIEFIX19
After long and difficult search, I came to his beloved Varese .... the last of the eight sisters born in the 1985!
Unearthed in the Anglo-Saxon land, emigrated no one knows why, but the weasel will return to the fold, in the land of origin of england! However, work began, some details are already completed ... to be continued .. .

HONDA CR 500 1985

HONDA CR 500 1985 - FREDDIEFIX19
This is the queen of all, the bike that I care about most, so the effort to return it to its former glory has been immense!
Do you think that I am not party to rebuild a whole bike, but I left a bare chassis!
So with a lot of patience, I gradually acquired all the missing components.
I found hard to find components such as the terminal, and very rare radiators shrouds. These  components are not even in Honda dealer, are sold out ... One of the major problems of the restoration of this bike lies in the fact that although it was the first release to water, then totally new bike, many details were changed starting in the later version, or that of 1986.
For example, we find: the tank, radiators shrouds, seat, forks, exhaust, terminal, some internal parts of the engine etc etc that belong solely to this version, it goes without saying that the whole thrust creates difficulties in the recovery of pieces replace, but the weasel is not afraid of anything, is now complete!

HUSQVARNA XC 500 1985

HUSQVARNA XC 500 1985 - FREDDIEFIX19
Other unmissable piece of my collection is this beautiful 1985 Scandinavian realization, I unearthed in UK.This version in my possession is the XC, which was never imported to Italy, was made mainly for the American continent, this version had some differences at the level of the rear hub, the reaction rod, tank and some other particular.
The frame for example, although it was identical to the cross version, had at most two handles welded in the area of the lower cradle, steps to protect the engine from stones etc.
Although he was in good condition, the previous owner had made a summary restoration .. Needless to say that I am not very happy about the method by which it was prepared the work, so to have completely redone!
I managed to find all the new plastic kit of stick, piece tank .Other board resides in the exhaust, new him well.

Currently the bike is almost complete, lacking some unimportant details, but the difficulties are not been few, many parts are no longer available from the sales network of dealers, and hours and hours of researches on the web have made a miracle!

YAMAHA YZ 490 1985

YAMAHA YZ 490 1985 - FREDDIEFIX19
Other bike  I care this much is the home of three tuning forks, the base was not bad, but there was much work to be done.

Unfortunately, the previous owner has replaced all the original screws with the valuable steel ... disaster ... In the end I've been forced to buy another bike to recover much of the original screws!

I found the brand-new terminal, a rarity, as well as fenders, side panel and right front table of new and stick originali.Particolary curious, the wings have a color ivory, while the rest of the plastic a crisp white ... mah. This is pretty much finished, I want to define some details, such as the adhesives of the tank that I did redo the classic free holes as the originals.

The bike is almost over, stuff of little consequence to be completed.
